The aim of the project "Warszawa-Oslo" is recollection, phonographic documentation and reactivation of bonds between Polish and Norwegian electro-acoustic music, presentation of their individual character and unquestionable significance on the international scale. The project focuses around the achievements of 3 pioneers, who started their collaboration in the Polish Radio Experimental Studio in the 1960’s and 1970’s: Arne Nordheim, Kåre Kolberg and Eugeniusz Rudnik. Their individual and collective works (Rudnik produced Nordheim’s compositions) not only were landmarks both in Poland and Norway, but they were crucial for the development of experimental music and art globally. It is enough to mention a well-known sound installation prepared by Nordheim (in cooperation with Rudnik) for the Norwegian pavilion at the Expo ‘70 in Osaka, Japan. Apart from a few Nordheim’s compositions, works of the 3 musicians seem to have gained popularity olny on the local level, while their unabated topicality and cross-gender importance have been proven by the international success of new editions of Nordheim’s works and newly created phonographic projects based on his achievements (“Nordheim Transformed” by famous Norwegian electronic music producers: Deathprod and Biosphere). In the project entitled “Eastern Waves: Warsaw-Oslo”, we would like to combine cross-generation exchange (historical works re-interpreted by artists of today) with international exchange (concerts of modern Polish and Norwegian musicians). The project will include:
